New “Get Smart” One-Sheet

Lovin’ the new poster for Get Smart - the redux of the popular 60’s television show. You know it’s Steve Carrell in the movie, so we don’t need to see his face in favor of the much more fetching Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). I love how the poster concedes comedy and gives us a great idea of what the movie will be like (Maxwell Smart figuratively being shat upon throughout the entire picture) instead of focussing on popularity and star power. From everything I’ve seen about this movie so far, all signs point to great fun.

The Running Tunnel

So I stopped by FilmJunk today during my web movie rounds and stumbled upon their movie entitled The Running Tunnel. I guess it’s been around for a while and I’ve neglected my duties in seeing it. Check out the movie below and then head over to FilmJunk and let ‘em know what you thought. I personally think it’s pretty damn funny and I love the “grindhouse” look of the film - as though it has aged for a year or three. To the filmjunk crew: Hilarious! Keep em coming.

Family Guy Does Lucas… again

famguy_poster1.jpg     If you saw the Family Guy episode a month or two back in which they recreated the entire movie of Star Wars: Episode IV, you know it was one of the funniest moments on TV in the past few years (at least for me). So I found out today Seth MCfarlane and crew are definitely going to be doing the follow-up: The Empire Strikes Back. Oh Happy (Halloween) Day!

According to Cinematical, the cast has already done the script read through and McFarlane says it is a go for sure. When IESB talked to McFarlane, they asked which Family Guy character would be playing Boba Fett, McFarlane noted that the “Giant Chicken would fill Fett’s boots.” Fans should know the Giant Chicken from its ridiculously long fight sequences with the character Peter Griffin.

Who knows, maybe they’ll do ROTJedi next? Sounds good to me:

Fake Trailer Contest

With Planet Terror finally hitting other parts of the world soon, Tarantino himself is judging some of the fake trailers that will be show with the films. In the Netherlands, here are some of the nominees that QT will be judging. Not exactly sure how the whole thing works since the web site is not in English, but somehow votes are taken into considerations as well.

So anyway, you can head over to http://www.planetterror.nl/faketrailer/ and take a look at all the nominees. Just click on the thumbnail image to see the streaming video, or hit the button to tally a vote for any video you choose.

Most of them are pretty stupid. Nailed By Nikita seems to be getting the highest praise so far and it looks to be pretty heavily inspired by Hobo with a Shotgun - the fake trailer only showed to Canadian audiences.

Head over to that foreign site to see them all, but here’s one I had to vote for for obvious reasons entitled Bloody Andrew:

David Lynch on Product Placement

David Lynch

Over the past few months I have been delving into the world of David Lynch. I just can’t get enough of the man’s mind and his films. Anyway I was recently browsing YouTube for any videos that I hadn’t seen already of interviews with David Lynch. I watched a few of them and he spoke very cryptically - as he always does….or does he? It seems that he has broken that trend by finally giving an answer that was as straight as an arrow. Take a look for yourself:
