A Lot of Stuff we Learned from Star Wars

Fem TroopersIn honor of the 30th Anniversary I present to you a really long list of stuff. I found it here.

  1. Never trust men in dark helmets.
  2. It really isn’t necessary to be fluent in over 6 million forms of communication.
  3. Get some travel information before heading off to a place that you have never even heard of.
  4. When all else fails….jump!
  5. Sometimes, you’ve just gotta do something that seems totally suicidal.
  6. If you are a young hero, nothing can kill you.
  7. Always check the background of people you want to get intimately involved with, they may be your relatives.
  8. You may have family members in surprisingly high positions.
  9. Before you kill someone make sure they aren’t your father.
  10. Watch out for Corellian freighters diving out of the sun.

A whole bunch more below included in the spoiler.

Star Wars Gangsta Rap

Speaking of Star Wars, I know this is kind of OFN, but it’s been updated and still makes me laugh.

**EXPLICIT**

C-3PO:
“Oh… my… goodness gracious me.
I’m a gay man’s golden fantasy.
Programmed for Homo-ecstacy…
10 million forms of gay positioning.
For my golden shower you must pay a fee…
but R2-D2 gives it up for free.”

Yes, I’m an immature child.

Since All We Do Is Post Star Wars Stuff…

In keeping with our Star Wars theme over the weekend (the 30th Anniversary of the greatest film of all time is on Friday - check back then for our thoughts and remembrances as part of the great Star Wars Blog-a-thon), here are some images of the toys Kenner rejected from the Lucasfilm merchandising department from MCmoran.org via Filmrot. I can’t figure out why they were rejected; I’d love to play with the force for a little while in my backyard…

Cannes Cam

Link to live feed from Cannes Cam

From now until the 27th, The Cannes Film Festival will have a 24 hour live camera feed of all the happenings on the red carpet leading up to the Grand Théâtre Lumière at the Palais. During highlighted premieres, there will be commentary and interviews with IFC host Matt Singer.

Thanks to Mad about Movies for the news…

You can check out the LIVE FEED HERE
also printed is a schedule of the day’s events.

This is a damn cool feature that IFC is sponsoring. I still wish I had cable and the IFC, but this makes me happy enough. Most excited am I to see Wong Kar-Wai and the gossip about his new film, My Blueberry Nights. As well as Kim Ki-Duk’s new project. Head on over and catch all of my jealousy, which is The Cannes Film Festival.

Rambo IV Pics

Current Mood:Cool emoticon Cool

Some new images I found over at If Its Movies of the new Rambo film. Now, does anyone actually think this movie will be good? I just re-watched each previous film in rapid succession a couple months ago to prepare myself for part 4 and reaquaint myself with John Rambo. I have to say, they’re pretty cheesy, but there’s definitely a cool factor in there and they end up just being pretty fun if you go with ti for what they are. Anyway, here are some images from the new film (don’t know if they’re legal or if they’re even real) - Stallone looks as buff and kick ass as ever.

Rambo 4

I’m not overly excited about this film, in fact, not really at all. Still, I’ll probably see this on opening day if there’s nothing else big on that day. I think this could be fun. On the same par as Rocky Balboa (MoviePatron review) was I should think.

VES 50

The VES, or Visual Effects Society has released its top 50 most influential films for visual effects of all time. Movieweb has the full story. Thanks to Simone via facebook for the heads up. Though I’d personally move “Metropolis” a bit higher up the list. I can’t argue with Star Wars in the #1 spot and think this is a pretty good list. Even if most of them are no-brainers to belong here.

Eric Roth, Executie Director of VES says:

“We’re thrilled to present VES 50. These films have had a significant, lasting impact on the practice and appreciation of visual effects as an integral, artistic element of cinematic expression and the storytelling process.”

Here are the top 10; to see the rest of the list, just click on the spoiler button to unwrap the enitre list (even though there aren’t any spoilers).

10. The Abyss (1989)
9. Alien (1979)
8. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
7. King Kong (1933)
6. Tron (1982)

One Letter Off

Maybe this is old news, but Kurt just sent me some fun with movie posters. Just change one letter of a film title and you have an entirely different film. This is a contest that you can enter. Here’s the main page to enter yourself if you’re good with photoshop and being witty. You can see all the entries there, but here are a few of my favorites:
