Now I have to make the effort to see "The Brave One". I hope it sticks around for another week or so because I'm looking forward to catching up with that one.

"Reign Over Me" is a great little film and though it takes place in this post 9/11 world and there is reference to the event which, as you mentioned Andrew, killed his wife and daughter. Though I didn't much care for this angle to the story - it didn't add anything other than to say that his family died in 9/11 - it's a great film about friendship. Well worth checking out.

"Resident Evil 3" - zombie crows. That's what I went for and that was the best part. And I'm thinking I may have to revisit "Ultraviolet". When I saw that, the video and sound weren't in sync and it was all I could think about when I watched it which is not a good thing. I remember it being very pretty and that the story idea was pretty cool but that was about it. I'll give it a second shot.

"In the Shadow of the Moon" is one of the VIFF selections that I really wanted to see but it only played twice and both times when I couldn't see it. I'll keep an eye out for it as I'm sure it'll be coming back.

"Eyes Wide Shut" - I watched that movie twice in the theater and absolutely adored it. I haven't revisited it since then and now I may have to wait for the box set release to get a few of the choice Kubrick masterworks on DVD.

Another excellent show guys!

We are on the same board there John. Heavy Handed and obvious was the name of the game. I fully believe this film got extra points merely because it wasn't a 'torture porn' horror film and featured a servicable perf. from Cusack. For me, it was a community haunted hayride where the local boyscouts jump out and go boo! Sad Really. The more I think of this film the more I dislike it for being so damn Lazy. With comparisons in some situations with THE SHINING (not to mention they are both hotel movies based on Stephen King stories)...Can't help but re-interating that this movie should never be purchased or rented if THE SHINING is available...

Grrrr.

I've got some real problems with 1408. First off, I really dislike the whole room just keeps throwing different things at him. Hey, lets put a ship on the wall and have waves come out on him, now lets make it cold, and now we'll have some random psycho guy in the room. There should have been reasons behind each of the types of hauntings not just random shit thrown at him. I also hated the ending. Now I'm not talking about the really cool part right before the end where Cusack really shines but the final couple of minutes. It felt like the writer figured the audience was dumb and that he had to use a big hammer to say here look it really all did happen and isn't just in his mind. I hate it when they do that. Just leave it up in the air and let the audience decide what was real and what wasn't.

I will give it bonus points for trying to be something different but it still failed in my mind.

You guys have done it now. I just finished the Brave One part and you have convinced me to go see it this weekend. This is a good thing because other than that one and movies I've seen the rest of the choices are looking pretty pitiful.
