I‘m in a non news type of day right now. So I figured I’d just put up a post about the fact that I am choosing to go see Inland Empire over Die Hard 4 (Its easier to say than Live Free of Die Hard) or Transformers. While I was out for a walk Tuesday evening I noticed that David Lynch’s newest movie is going to be playing tonight. For the rest of the walk I was trying to decide what to see. Before seening the poster up at the theatre for Inland Empire I hadn’t even decided which of Die Hard or Transformers to see. Both of them pretty much seem to fit the bill of a big summer blockbuster. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the summer blockbusters have ruined it for me for the others. My interest in both of these have gone down since I first saw the trailers. This is the reason I am going to see Inland Empire tonight. It wasn’t originally on my list of movies to see since I didn’t think it would be released here but I’m glad that it is. I figure in a week or two I will have also seen both Die Hard and Transformers.
I’m not sure where I’m going with this other than just to ramble on that I’m going to see Inland Empire tonight in the middle of blockbuster season.

If I was standing next to you right now I would give you a BIG pat on the back. Well done, sir. Seeing Inland Empire over the other two is a good idea for a number of reasons:
1) It is more than likely not going to be in theatres for long and therefore if you waited to see it you may miss it.
2) You pretty much know what you are going to get with Die Hard 4 and Transformers and know what you are going to end up feeling by it (JUST entertained). Whereas IE and with Lynch you NEVER know what you are going to get and ultimately I think it will be more rewarding.
3) Kind of links with the 1st reason - both Die Hard 4 AND Transformers are going to be in theatres for months probably so you can catch them anytime basically
Like I said well done for choosing what you have.
(PS - Lynch rules!)
I agree with Ross. You’re likely to get more long term satisfaction from “Inland Empire” than anything else currently being offered by Hollywood.
I was walking by the theatre on the way home and it looks like I’ll be seeing explosions after all. The theatre never received their copy of Inland Empire. It was “lost in the mail”….
Aw sorry about that man. Explosions over excellence. Hey, look at the bright side - you WILL be entertained
