How many times does Jack Sparrow grab on to a rope and then either cut the counter weight or use a cannon to swing himself into the air throughout the series? I would guess about 211 times. Not to mention, it is one of the most cliche things to do in a movie and I'm tired of it. From now on, if a character in ANY movie ever escapes his enemies by grabbing a rope and then cutting the counter weight (whether it be a chandalier or a ship's mast), that film automatically gets deducted 2 stars.

I just got back from Pirates and I have to say I actually enjoyed myself somewhat. I didn't have any problem following the many alliances and while I did think it needed to focus on fewer characters I was still kept interested.

My biggest complaint is the need for sequels and trilogies to always top themselves in the later movies. I could actually buy what Jack Sparrow was able to do in the first movie but in the second they had the really annoying wheel sequence and in this one he pretty much became Spiderman on the ropes. I also though the fighting on the mast was silly. If they hadn't been going around the whirlpool it might have been fine but as it was it was just a bit too much.

If I were to rate all of them I'd give the first movie a 9 (yes I really loved it). The second movie a 2 (yes I really hated it) and the third movie a 6.5. I can think of a lot of worse movies.

Oh and I also read some reviews that complained the Calypso bit was just totally dropped off and I don't think it was. I thought that bit of storyline ended really well.

Kurt, that scene you talked about in Waitress with the blurry edges and she is in focus actually reminds me of Kevin Costner scenes in For Love of the Game - "...shut down the mechanism."

Haha. Yes. After almost eery show Kurt and I do I always end up adding anywhere from 2-6 movies to my Blcokbuster queue. It takes froever to get through them all (Probably never well). This coupled with current films takes up all my time.
